Acknowledging Women Artists

The Vision Award was named in honor of the 32 women who crafted the first vision of our organization. It also reflects the vision of the local music, theater, and visual arts organizations that recognize and showcase the artists at the core of their missions. Whether artists comprise the teaching corps, administrative staff, behind-the-scenes crew, community program presenters, or performers, they are always the driving force of dynamic arts organizations. This grant of up to $32,000 will be awarded annually to an organization for its support of women artists (or it may be divided among two or three organizations).

We have designed this program to allow applicants to let us know what they need most—salary support for women artists on staff; project support for a series of programs featuring women artists; general operating support for an organization whose central purpose is to promote work by women; and more. We do not wish to limit the vision of organizations applying for this grant, but to open possibilities and ways of thinking about artists.

How to Apply: 3Arts will accept letters of intent throughout the year until September 15. These should be no longer than two-page narratives defining the process, goals, and the impact of the endeavor, accompanied by a budget outlining how the grant funds will be used.

The letter of intent can be submitted electronically to Esther Grimm.

By
October 1, 3Arts will contact all applicants and invite a full proposal from a selection of them. The longer, more detailed, and invitation-only proposals will be due on November 15.

The Vision Award recipient(s) will be announced each March.

Please contact Esther Grimm, Executive Director, at 312-443-9621 if you wish to discuss your request.
